26 May 2010
On May 26, 2010, the Borough of Ramsey formally recognized the efforts of four members of the Ramsey Ambulance Corps for their efforts in providing disaster rescue and relief to the victims of the January 12, 2010 earthquake that struck Haiti. Mayor Christopher Botta and the town council unanimously issued certificates of appreciation to Eamon Daul, James Gatti, Sean Matro and Michael Migliaccio, and presented them with “Keychains to the Borough”.
Migliaccio and Daul were part of separate groups that were deployed to Haiti within the first few days of the earthquake. Migliaccio was part of a team of Emergency Medical Technicians and Rescue Specialists that was sent through Our Chance International: Emergency Medical Services Outreach, and Daul was a member of the team of emergency physicians and nurses sent through Nova Hope and the Hackensack University Medical Center. Both men assisted in relief efforts at the University of Miami/Project Medishare field hospital in Port-au-Prince, and did field work in the disaster struck areas of Port-au-Prince and outlying areas.
Migliaccio returned to Haiti with a second team from Our Chance International: EMS Outreach, comprised of himself, James Gatti and two other Emergency Medical Technicians with a rescue background from the Lakeland First Aid and Rescue Squad, Rourke Day and Matthew Cady. Sean Matro assisted the second team with logistical preparations prior to deployment. The second team was organized and deployed in under four days, without his help, that would not have been accomplished. They again provided assistance and logistical support at the University of Miami/Project Medishare Field Hospital and did relief and rescue work in disaster struck areas of the Haitian capital.

Members of Ramsey's OEM and Ambulance Corps, who participated in Haiti's relief effort were recognized at a recent council meeting. (L) to (R): Mayor Chris Botta; Volunteers James Gatti, Michael Migliaccio, Eamon Daul and Sean Matro; Councilman Bill Jones.
